The Old Weavers House

A historical archive says a domestic assistant saw a Grey Lady ascending the staircase of the building now occupied by The Old Weavers Restaurant.

The Old Weavers is a working restaurant, not a museum. Enter only as a customer during published opening hours, respect staff and diners, and do not attempt upstairs, after-hours or investigative access without the business's explicit permission.

Place: Canterbury, Kent
Area: East Kent
Type: Historic riverside building and restaurant
Source record: Documented reports
Visitor access: Public access

History

Historic England dates the timber-framed building to about 1500 and identifies it as a workshop of Huguenot weavers. Restored fabric, river elevations and surviving interior features now form the setting of the current restaurant.

Reported activity

The Paranormal Database records a domestic assistant seeing a woman in grey ascend the staircase. It labels the source a historical record but supplies no witness name, date or original document, so this is a concise attributed report rather than a claim that customers should expect an encounter.

KASE perspective

KASE has not investigated The Old Weavers House. The building's current restaurant use sets a clear boundary: ordinary dining access is not permission to investigate or intrude on private floors.

Visiting responsibly

The Old Weavers is a working restaurant, not a museum. Enter only as a customer during published opening hours, respect staff and diners, and do not attempt upstairs, after-hours or investigative access without the business's explicit permission. Check the venue or landowner's current information before travelling, respect closures and private property, and never enter unsafe or restricted areas.
