History
Rochester's Grade I Guildhall was built in 1695-97 as a civic and court building. Its ornate plaster ceiling was funded by Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell. The building now houses Medway history collections, including prison-hulk and Dickens displays.
Reported activity
The Paranormal Database records a tradition of a uniformed figure seen in the corridors and identifies it with Sir Cloudesley Shovell. The archive classifies its source as published media but does not expose the underlying citation, so the story remains folklore rather than a verified witness case.
KASE perspective
KASE has not investigated the Guildhall Museum. The Shovell connection is historically real, but the identity of the reported figure is an interpretation. This record stays in the folklore category unless the original publication or a first-hand account is recovered.
