Eynsford Castle

History

The castle is a rare early Norman enclosure fortification, with a curtain wall probably built around 1090. A disputed inheritance led to damage in 1312, after which the site was abandoned; its surviving walls and hall remains are now cared for by English Heritage.

Reported activity

The Paranormal Database records a White Lady and a cold spot in the former moat. A separate 2018 photograph was promoted as a black-robed monk, but a detailed skeptical review notes that other visitors were present and a person in the courtyard is the simpler explanation. Both the tradition and the critique are kept in the record.
