Reported activity
A local-newspaper story retold by the Garden of England archive names blacksmith Thomas Abery and his daughter Alice Geoffries. Abery reportedly entered at midnight expecting an apparition to reveal hidden jewels but fled after seeing a terrifying white figure. A related tradition warns of a figure leaning from a window. These are local accounts, not proof of danger or a curse.
